It makes sense starting this page out that there would be two sections. One would be recently reviewed movies and another would be recommended movies. Those would probably be movies watched so long ago we couldn't be specific about them, but remember them well enough to confidentally recommend them or even perhaps pay $3.99 to watch them again.
Actually, another section listing the movies alphabetically would be useful too, but we recommend using your browser's search button instead. Hey, who do you think we are--Blockbuster?
Title Comments About Schmidt Disappointed! Any movie with both Kathy Bates and Jack Nicholson brings with it great expectations. This movie starts out slow and stays slow. It seems we waited 121 of the movie's 124 minutes waiting for Kathy Bates to rescue us and the movie from our boredom. No luck. Too little too late.
Gangs of New York Unnecessary and gratuitous violence are the hallmarks of this film. The blood, guts and gore seem to better fit movies like Braveheart and The Patriot but sticks out in this otherwise wandering movie about a period in America's past during the civil war that no one seems to remember from social studies. It could have been a more interesting movie if historical references were provided. Save your money. If you want gore with good historical underpinnings see one of the two Mel Gibson movies above. Both were excellent.
Shanghai Knights If you enjoy good natured Kung-Fu flicks this is $3.99 well spent. One of our favorite parts was Jackie Chan's martial arts interpretation of Gene Kelly's "Singing in the Rain" complete with lethal-force umbrellas. There's also multiple historical references to keep adults interested, including one to Stonehenge.
Laura Croft: Tomb Raider Recently while visiting his cousin Andrew, Joshua and he watched Laura Croft: Tomb Raider. Joshua's take? Angelina Jolie might be better looking that Carie-Anne Moss in The Matrix, but Trinity kicks butt in leather and high heels! It was a better movie than expected and we watched it twice. Based on the first movie we'll probably go see the second move, Cradle of Life.
Death To Smoochy It's always hard watching Robin Williams play a character with a darker side, and Death to Smoochy is no exception. We were pleasantly surpised to see Ed Norton in the role as Smoochy.
